Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) briefly spoke to the press at the White House after a meeting over negotiations on border security and Ukraine funding, days before a potential government shutdown. “It was a very good meeting and a very positive meeting. There was a large amount of agreement around the table that we must do Ukraine and we must do border,” said Leader Schumer, who stressed the only way the Senate would move forward on Ukraine and the border was with bipartisan agreement. Joining the senator was House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who said the meeting was a “very positive, forward-looking, candid discussion.” close
