U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said an Algeria-led resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza would hurt ongoing negotiations for a hostage release deal and long-term peace. She spoke about the U.S. opposition to this proposal during a United Nations Security Council meeting in New York City. The resolution failed after the U.S., a permanent member, voted against it. The final tally was 13 “yes” votes, one “no” and one abstention. close
