“I’m pleased to report that we saw a strong 2024 tax season for the nation - one of our best in history,” said IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel during his opening testimony before a House Appropriations subcommittee on the president’s 2025 budget request. Several topics were discussed, including modernization efforts, customer service challenges, fraud mitigation, and workforce development. Commissioner Werfel also touched upon the agency’s focus on high income individuals and businesses making over $400,000 a year, particularly those who have not paid their legally owed taxes. close
