Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin addressed members of the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe concerning the peace accord signed in September by Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). The agreement proposed self-government of Gaza and Jericho by the Palestinians, as well as election of a Palestinian council. It also included plans for economic cooperation between the two groups. In the agreement, the PLO recognized Israel’s right to exist and renounced the use of terrorism. Following the address, Prime Minister Rabin took questions from council members. close
