NATO Supreme Allied Commander General Curtis "Mike" Scaparrotti tells the Senate Armed Services Committee that he's concerned about the current posture of the U.S. in Europe and says he needs more forces, as well as intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities to deter the Russians and meet the requirements of the National Defense Strategy. "I'm not comfortable yet with the deterrent posture that we have in Europe in support of the national defense strategy," the general warns. General Scaparrotti declines to elaborate on specifics, saying he would discuss them in a "closed" session instead. close
