“We were talking about climate change. I asked her, what would it take for you to come over to my side? She was on the ‘it is all a hoax, it is not happening,’ and I am not on that side. What would it take? I would have to live on another planet, she said, in other words, nothing. Thinking she had me now, she did exactly what I hoped she would do. She turned it around on me, what would it take for you to come over to my side? I said, that is easy. If I wake up tomorrow and 98% of climate scientists said they made a mistake and it is not our fault, I would change my mind. There is a big difference there. We cannot have a discussion with one another if we are not open to changing our minds. And in the polarized environment we are in right now, I would like to say both sides, and it is true to some extent, but it is mostly one side that has decided that, game over, I know where I stand and nothing is going to change my mind, and that is a big, big problem for our country and the world.” close
