Senator Murphy Says U.S. Must Be "Laserlike" Focused on Israeli-Palestinian Ceasefire

In a speech on the Senate floor, Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy says the U.S. must be "laserlike" focused on de-escalation and on a ceasefire between the Israelis and Palestinians, saying it's not in the U.S. or Israel's interest. He says the latest eruption of violence has its origins, in part, on an effort to remove Palestinian families from a neighborhood in East Jerusalem that began in February. He also says that U.S. absence from its traditional role as mediator during the Trump administration also played a role.
