Meat Industry Consolidation and Production Driving Grocery Food Price Increases

National Economic Council Director Brian Deese says grocery food price increases can be attributed, in part, to increases in the cost of meat production, as well as industry consolidation--especially during the pandemic when production has been disrupted. He says the administration is taking steps to try and address the issue, create more transparency and ensure that farmers get a return on their products. close
