This is the opening statement by Jennifer DeStefano who testified before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law regarding her experience with how AI was used in a kidnapping and ransom extortion scheme, but the perpetrator couldn't be prosecuted because since no money exchanged hands, apparently no crime was committed according to current laws on the books. The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law is reviewing this and other implications of AI in an effort to criminalize this type of scheme. close
