Several members of the U.S. Conference of Black Mayors responded to reporters' questions in the White House driveway shortly after meeting with President George H. W. Bush on economic aid plans for the nation’s cities. Mayor Henry Espy, Clarksdale, MS said the issues in the meeting included drugs, housing, families, youth employment, and education. He also said the mayors were promised an interagency task force to investigate funding for the problems. close
