New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) provided an update on the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. While the totals continued to increase, the governor expressed cautious optimism about the number of new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in the state. With New York’s death toll remaining relatively stable over the past two days, the governor said it could indicate a “possible flattening of the curve.” However, he warned that it was not the time to become complacent or relax social distancing measures. “There’s also a real danger in getting overconfident too quickly. This is an enemy that we have underestimated from day one and we have paid the price dearly,” he said. Additionally, he said he was asking President Trump to use the USNS Comfort as a hospital for coronavirus patients after it was initially deployed to treat non-coronavirus patients. close
