Democratic Leader Jeffries Holds News Conference

He reiterated the leader's call for American leadership amid the Russia-Ukraine war and called for House Republicans to bring the Senate bipartisan national security supplemental to the House floor. When asked if House Democrats would support House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) should his speakership be threatened for holding a vote on Ukraine aid, Rep. Jeffries said, "I've made the observation, not a declaration ... that if the speaker were to do the right thing and allow the House to work its will with an up or down vote on the national security bill, then I believe that there are a reasonable number of Democrats who would not want to see the speaker fall as a result of doing the right thing." In addition, Leader Jeffries answered questions on Haiti, the southern border, and rebuilding the Baltimore Key Bridge.

FBI Director Testifies on FY 2025 Budget Request

He said, "As I look back over my career in law enforcement, I would be hard-pressed to think of a time where so many threats to our public safety and national security were so elevated all at once. But that is the case as I sit here today. ... this is by no means a time to let up or dial back." He also advocated for Congress to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which monitors foreign nationals overseas and is set to expire on April 19. Mr. Wray's comments came during testimony on the FBI's fiscal year 2025 budget request before a House Appropriations subcommittee.

Discussion on NATO's Deterrence Role
