President H.W. Bush announced that former Representative Lynn Martin of Illinois would join his cabinet as the Secretary of Labor, replacing Elizabeth Dole. Ms. Dole resigned to become the National Head of Red Cross. The president also discussed the Persian Gulf events and the dates for talks between the United States and Iraq before leaving for a weekend at Camp David. close
