Professor Folsom talked with high school students about the development of the U.S. as a world economic power, congressional subsidies to entrepreneurs to begin a steam ship service to England in the 1800s, the rise of Cornelius Vanderbilt, and other topics. After his presentation he answered students' questions.

Professor Folsom is the author of The Myth of the Robber Barons.
