Senator David Vitter (R-LA) spoke on the Senate floor about reports that veterans died while waiting for care at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals. He tried to bring up his bill authorizing 27 VA health clinics. The chair of the Veterans Committee, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), objected and tried to call up a larger bill to expand services to veterans and rollback cuts in cost of living adjustments. Senator Vitter objected, and the two debated both bills. close
