NASA astronaut Cady Coleman talked about her career, including being a woman on the International Space Station (ISS) and medical issues for astronauts. She showed photographs and videos as she talked about her six weeks looking for meteorites in Antarctica, living 11 days in underwater habitat, and her launch and time aboard the ISS, and advising Sandra Bullock for her role in the movie Gravity. While aboard the ISS in 2011 she played flute in a duet with with Jethro Tull musician Ian Anderson who was in Russia. This first space-Earth duet saluted 50 years of human spaceflight. To introduce the program, Ian Anderson was interviewed via Skype about the duet and his interest in space.

This was a session of the Explorer Club’s annual “Space Stories” program. close
