More than 300 members of Great Britain’s youth parliament, ages 11 to 18, gathered in the British House of Commons for their annual debate. The students debated five topics that would be considered for their national campaign. In this portion, the students discussed raising the minimum wage to a living wage. Some argued that it was only fair; whereas others believed that it would only give a temporary solution while stifling the growth of the economy. Topics included the effects of living wage policy on youth unemployment and poverty. Speaker of the House John Bercow presided, with a few remarks by other members of Parliament. close
