Public and private sector officials testified at a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing on infrastructure response and recovery efforts in the wake of a series of deadly hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and the Caribbean. In this portion, a panel of private sector officials, a former member of the Puerto Rican senate, and a medical aid organization representative spoke about their groups' contributions to and observations of the ongoing recovery efforts. Members focused on several issues including the ongoing challenges in Puerto Rico where many parts of the island were still without electricity six weeks after Hurricane Maria made landfall there. close
