The Senate Armed Services Committee heard from the commanders of U.S. European Command and U.S. Transportation Command on their operations. Russian aggression was one of several issues raised by members of the committee, and General Mike Scaparrotti, commander of U.S. European Command and the NATO supreme allied commander, said despite progress in terms additional forces and readiness, of he was “not comfortable yet” with the deterrent posture in Europe against potential Russian actions and in support of the Pentagon’s National Defense Strategy. close
