Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) spoke about the history of the Equal Rights Amendment before a vote on resolution to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th amendment to the Constitution. The measure, which failed to get the necessary 60 votes, would have removed a deadline for states to ratify the ERA and declared Senate approval of the amendment. close
