President Bill Clinton announced that he was asking the Federal Communication Commission to investigate the effects of liquor advertising on young people and possible agency moves to get distributors and manufacturers to reinstate their self-imposed ban. He spoke directly to the industry by saying, “It should not require a federal action to encourage you to continue to act responsibly.” After his remarks, the president took a few questions from the press. close
