They discussed illegal immigration and border security, with Speaker Johnson announcing that House Republicans would introduce legislation requiring proof of citizenship to vote. Moreover, Donald Trump took reporters' questions on several topics, including: supporting Mike Johnson amid Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) expressing interest in removing him as speaker, Ukraine aid, his thoughts on an abortion ban, and reports of Iran planning an attack on Israel. Mr. Trump also said that he would testify in his upcoming hush money trial taking place in New York City.
"Arizona, this fight is about freedom," Vice President Kamala Harris said in reference to reproductive rights. The vice president traveled to Tucson, Arizona in the wake of the state's Supreme Court upholding an 1864 law banning abortion. She went on to say the women of Arizona, "now live under one of the most extreme abortion bans in our nation." She said the overturning of Roe V. Wade was, "the opening act part of a full-on attack, state by state on reproductive freedom." She placed the blame solely on former President Donald Trump.

The Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control held a hearing to examine the role of shell companies in facilitating transnational crime, such as fentanyl trafficking. Key topics included bad actors using such companies for money laundering and cartels using registered U.S. aircraft to smuggle illegal drugs. The Corporate Transparency Act was passed in 2021, which is intended to outlaw anonymous U.S. shell companies.
