The United Nations Security Council met to discuss S. 22430, a resolution concerning the cease-fire in the Persian Gulf war. Amendments to the resolution under debate included Iraqi war reparations, forcing Iraq to destroy its unconventional weapons, and a U.N. security force to be placed on the border of Iraq and Kuwait. Representatives from Iraq and Kuwait were invited to participate in the discussions concerning the cease fire in the Persian Gulf war, but were not allowed to vote on the resolution. The resolution was passed by the Security Council in a vote of 12 to 1, and awaited Iraq’s approval to become effective. close
