The United Nations Security Council met to discuss S. 22430, a resolution concerning the cease-fire in the Persian Gulf war. Amendments to the resolution under debate included Iraqi war reparations, forcing Iraq to destroy its unconventional weapons, and a U.N. security force to be placed on the border of Iraq and Kuwait. Representatives from Iraq and Kuwait were invited to participate in the discussions concerning the cease-fire in the Persian Gulf War but were not allowed to vote on the resolution. The resolution was passed by the Security Council in a vote of 12 to 1 and awaited Iraq’s approval to become effective. close
