Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) began the debate on the nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) to be attorney general.

Senator Grassley complained about Democrats' opposition to President Trump’s nominees, saying that both he and Senator Sessions voted for Eric Holder in 2009. Senator Feinstein read letters from constituents opposed to the nomination, listed offensive things President Trump had said, and said, as evidence that Senator Session was not independent from President Trump and his agenda, that searching the C-SPAN website would show how often Senator Sessions visited Trump Tower during the transition. close
